Our Annual Flag selling weekend is coming up on the Weekend of 22nd 23rd & 24th February. With big cutbacks in Grants to Groups like ourselves we have become increasingly reliant on Fundraising. Unfortunately the income from fundraising over the last couple of years has fallen due to a number of reasons. This weekend is an opportunity to raise a considerable amount and I would appeal to Parents to try to give a little of their time over the weekend to help the Group.

We do not allow any of the youth members out selling flags without a full uniform and an adult. Over the next few weeks I will be giving out a list of places where we are authorised to sell by an Garda Siochana. Also some of the Supermarkets have to be approached for permission and we are awaiting a reply to some of our inquiries. If any of the parents have contacts in any of the supermarkets in the Town we would appreciate if they could use their influence to obtain permission to sell.”

I would hope that parents would reply to me when we issue the list of authorised selling places giving me details of what time they could spare and where they would like to sell. In that way I would hope that we could cover every available spot for the full day and not have too many people in one place and nobody in others. If you could help out at all please leave a message on my phone at 087 6186405 on my e/mail at tomkc@eircom.net or on the dlscouts.ie website. I will try to get a place on it for replies. I will send out the list in the next week or two.

Yours in Scouting,

Tom Casey (Group Treasurer)
