On Sunday February 1st 2009 ten young members of the De La Salle Scout Group Pipe Band joined with sixty other young pipers and drummers from all over Ireland to form the Irish National Youth Pipe Band. Prior to playing together the pipers had many hours of practice both at home in Waterford and just prior to the parade.  The young players led a parade through the streets of Temple Bar in the centre of Dublin and while the day was bitterly cold all of the players enjoyed the experience. The Irish National Pipe Band performed again in a concert in Tralee Co Kerry on February 21st 2009 and again De La Salle was represented by these dedicated young people. Below: The young De La Salle scout players wore their new Glengarry hats for the first time on this parade. The wearing of this type of headgear is a major move away from the more traditional balmorals which the band members have worn for many years.
